Presenter Dr Margaret Young
After graduating from medical school in 1983, Margaret spent a number of years working in public hospitals in Queensland and Tasmania, then undertook training in general practice.
An opportunity emerged to work as a volunteer in Cambodia. One year turned into three, and she discovered a passion for public health medicine, which she describes as the opportunity to marry medical training with the assessment of health and health needs, in order to mobilise resources to improve the health of the community.
For the past fifteen years Margaret has worked in public health medicine in Queensland, currently as the Director of the Public Health Unit in Wide Bay.
