Sue has extensive experience both as a clinician, educator, and senior manager in the acute, aged care and palliative care settings.
Sue is passionate about making a difference to the way in which people experience the health care system. “Healthcare should be delivered by competent, knowledgeable individuals to ensure the best possible experience for the recipient of that care. Nursing is a fabulous profession - the backbone of the healthcare system, it is the knowledge and skill of the individual Nurse that will have the greatest influence on the happiness and health outcomes of each and every client.”
We all experience anxiety – the focus of this webinar is recognising when the associated symptoms indicate that the individual has an anxiety disorder.
The various types of anxiety disorders will be explored, risk factors identified, and treatment options investigated. How we can assist an individual experiencing a panic attack will also be highlighted.
Remember 1 in 5 people in Australia will experience a mental health illness this year. That means that no matter where you practice Nursing you will at some time be working with a client/patient who has, or is experiencing, a mental health issue. You will need to be skilled enough to recognise this as well as support and assist them until you can refer them to a mental health specialist team member.
In this session you will:
- Gain an understanding of anxiety
- Review the most common anxiety disorders
- Explore the treatment options available
- Discover how to assist an individual experiencing a panic attack
